Date of Event: 23 Nov. 2022

Place: University College London

Description: A workshop to explore the interoperability of the Sloane Lab data with external digital collections using a selection of specimens from Sloane’s Voyage to Jamaica. The activity aims to identify what users might want to do with data from various datasets made available through the Sloane Lab and explore discrepancies and continuities around names of the specimen included in the different data sets, including old English common names, disused scientific pre-Linnaean names (as used by Sloane), validated scientific names, and commonly used current names.
